A tale of generational love and loss, it’s inheritance and the way 3 women deal with all of this in different ways. The magical realism is executed beautifully with gorgeous prose, imagery and metaphors. Despite the title, I was not prepared for the amount of pain contained in the pretty words of this book. There’s so much love, loss and kindness contained in the brilliant cast of characters. It’s a silent portrayal of humanity in an underhand message.

My only qualm was that the character of Ava was not explored enough to justify everything she stands for in this book
